Need to know exactly which forest your paper comes from? Wal-Mart will want to know, and printers are gearing up to provide the information. Diversa Graphics, a privately held Tulsa, OK, custom-printing firm recently received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approval for a wide range of its printed products. FSC certified means the printed item has been traced from its paper origins in a certified forest, which promotes the protection of wildlife, plants, soil, water and air quality while harvesting forest products for press. The approval is required by Wal-Mart for all products in 2008.

The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, not for profit, non-government organization. Companies such as Tiffany’s, Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn already use FSC-certified material for all of their catalog printing.
